This prototype chair design process involved exploring the potential of a single design and how it would change with the use of two different materials. The wood prototype is built of hard maple requiring larger components to meet the ergonomic and strength requirements for a chair. It achieves visual strength through the warmth of its materials and clarity of wood joinery. The metal version allows for fewer pieces and simplicity in its structural design. Furniture design for our architectural interiors is a centerpiece of what we offer our clients. The design process for buildings should integrate architecture and furniture design as a collaborative process, each informing the other to create a synergistic result.
